BASAL is an ethical line of intimates founded by Kelli Woo in 2016. It was created to provide the modern woman with versatile layers pieces she can live in, without harming her skin or the environment.

Each style is carefully designed with your comfort in mind. From work to working out and everything in between, BASAL offers supportive, lightweight styles that flatter and form to any body type. Our cuts are skimpy and our coverage is cheeky because we choose to feel sexy and comfortable at the same time. With our timeless silhouettes and quality, plant-based fabrics, you'll forget you're wearing anything at all.

To us, the size of our carbon footprint is just as important as your comfort, which is why we only use ethically sourced materials and local production near our home in Los Angeles. Our small family-owned factory pays fair wages to their mostly female employees, and has provided a productive and safe workplace for them for over 30 years.

We've chosen to use local USA companies for all of our raw materials needs. We don't do this because we're nationalists and naive to the reality of globalization, but because we know how bad the shipping industry is for the environment. The less distance our goods travel, the less negative impact we have on the planet. Kelli oversees every aspect of sourcing and production to ensure that we stay true to the commitment we made to sustainability from the very beginning. Learn more about our sustainable practices here.
